November 2023 Outreach

Food for the Body - Food for the Mind

Cans, Jars, and Cash
Thank you to  Heritage Group members for donating 89 canned goods, 50 jars of peanut butter, and cash for the Heights Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry.

Food pantry cash donations for October - November amounted to $500. Our gift was then matched. So that's double the impact on Heights families.

Thank you Trisha Oyer and Karen Adams for coordinating this activity and Cathey Harrison for gathering and delivering our donations.

Books and Goody Bags
The Women's Studies Library Initiative (WSLI) continues the club's tradition of literacy and women's history by ensuring our local public school libraries have a rich collection of books on women's history. Ten books are selected by the each of the nine Heights HISD librarians.

Thank you to Amy Amos, Mary Eyuboglu, Teresa Matlock, Barbara Mercer, Kathy Sandefer and Gloria Wilson who delivered books and goody bags to 9 Heights area schools on October 26.

October 2023 Outreach

Communities in Schools and Girls Empowerment Network

Thank you to  Heritage Group volunteers for your roles in donating and making quick work of packing up 75 bags of  Halloween candy for students in the Communities in Schools (CIS) Heights High School program. The candy will be used by Counselors to incentivize student completion of forms.

We also want to acknowledge the many inspiring letters and notes contributed to the Girls Empowerment Network  program. The program's mission is to ignite power in girls by teaching them the skills to thrive and believe in their ability. As members shared their letters, there were a few tears and much hope that these words will have a positive impact on the lives of young women.

Thank you to Karen Adams and Trisha Oyer for bringing members together for this impactful event.

Summer 2023 Outreach

School Uniform Drive

As a Club, we collected $3700 for the Annual School Uniform drive. Donations came from individual members as well as organizations. Some members also contributed by donating gently used children's school uniforms. We have a group of kind and generous members.

May 2023 Outreach

CIS Graduation Party

Thank you to  Heritage Group volunteers for your roles in supporting the Communities in Schools (CIS) Heights High School Graduation Party and Ice Cream Social. Seniors and soon to be seniors feasted on refreshing sundaes and sandwiches.   It was truly a rewarding experience meeting the students and having the opportunity to congratulate them on their success.

Thank you to Trisha Oyer, Heritage Community Outreach Chair, for her strong partnership in bringing Evening and Heritage members together for this impactful event.
